As usual I test Metal on my NVS295, Xeon machine.
No metal-love with Apples stock drivers…
Apple released the Golden Master Candidate of OS X El Capitan that will be released to the public on Wednesday, September 30.
The update, build number 15A282b, is available through the software update mechanism in the Mac App Store for Public Beta Participants and through the Apple Developer Center for Devs.
I had in the past a couple of challenges to install El Capitan on my Xeon system. Basically the installer was not loading and I just go a grey screen with a spinning ball.
The GM I finally got installed the “normal” way. What I did (I did not in the past) is go the Clover Options and changed the setting “Change OS Version if not” from 10.10.10 to 10.11.
This was I guess the setting I missed – which possibly prevented the FakeSMC.kext to be loaded properly (which I had in the 10.11 folder).
Apple released Developer Beta 8 which is build 15A279b.
It took me a while to get this working as I had problems in getting the DP or the PB installer to fire up the installation GUI on my Xeon NAS (I expect the gfx card / drivers to be the issue). Anyway I installed DP1 on a USB thumb drive and updated it to DP3. Then I booted the stick with the clover setup I have already on my Xeon NAS – et violà ! It worked (I had to add fakesmc to the 10.11 folder).
Apple today released Developer Beta 6 of OS X 10.11 El Capitan. The update arrives as build 15A244d.
